Self-drive in Canary islands

8 days and 7 nights

A trip to discover two of the seven islands that make up the Canaries. The northern and central part of Tenerife where takes place the Teide volcano and its lunar landscapes. And the entire island of La Palma, much more wild and unspoilt.

Day 1: Tenerife South Airport - Santiago del Teide

Car rental at your disposal. Unlimited mileage, all risks insurance and additional driver included.
GPS not included (on request).

Where to eat and drink?

In the famous "Guachinches" of course! It is generally an establishment where a small farmer makes you discover his wine production accompanied by a traditional dish. The products are of high quality and you can taste typical dishes such as "Puchero", an elaborate stew of different vegetables and meats, "Mojo" canary sauce with red or green pepper, "Gofio" (cereal) with Palma honey, goat cheese, "Papas Arrugadas", potatoes boiled in sea water ... "La Suertita" is a good example. It is located in the town Los Realejos.

The history of the Canary wines began in the 15th century when the first vines were planted. A true museum of the vine, with more than 30 varieties, since the archipelago has never been affected by the phylloxera.

> Tacoronte-Acentejo (1885) - the oldest of the five appellations of origin (TOC) in Tenerife, Denominación de Origen (DO) in Spain.

> Valle de La Orotava - Red and white wines and young ruby-colored and very fruity.

> Valle del Güimar - The altitude varies up to 1400 m. The great difference in altitude in such a small geographical space can play with the different degrees of acidity of the grapes. The main variety is the "White Listan" which accounts for 80% of the plantation.

Day 2: Teide - Santiago del Teide

Tenerife is unique island and famous for its volcanic character with Mont Teide (3718m). It is full of endemic animal species, including many invertebrates. Travel tips: Free access to Teide park. However, you will need an authorization to climb Mont Teide if you choose to take the path of Telesforo Bravo which links the Rambleta (3500 m) and el Pico (highest points). Regarding the mirador of Rambleta, you can go freely by the path #7 (Montaña Blanca). It is the same for the paths #11 (mirador de la Fortaleza) and #12 (Mirador de Pico Viejo).
